The First Day

I gave you a little wink and a smile

as you entered my room today.

For I know how hard it is to leave

and know your child must stay.

You’ve been with them for years now

and have been a loving guide.

But now, alas, the time has come

to leave them at my side.

Just know that as you drive away

and tears down your cheeks may flow,

I’ll love them as I would my own

and help them learn and grow.

For as a parent, I too, know

how quickly the years do pass

and that one day it was also my turn

to take my child to class.

So please put your mind at ease

and cry those tears no more.

For I will love them and take them in

when you leave them at my door.

Parents

Education and development are important, but we know that nothing matters more than the safety, security and health of your child.  That’s why protection and preparedness are critical considerations in everything we do at Sunshine Academy.

From First Aid training for emergency situations to sanitation and ensuring a clean and healthy environment for children, our center is designed with the safety and security of children in mind.  You can have confidence that your child is cared for in a secure, nurturing environment every day.

Sunshine Room Mother

A room parent facilitates communication between parents and the teacher, school administration and/or parent teacher organization (PTO) and supports the teacher in needs that may arise.  This facilitation can take many different forms and can require anything from a minor volunteer commitment shared with other parents to a large responsibility.

Being a room parent is generally a yearlong assignment; so make sure you can commit to it.  It’s a great way to get to know the teacher!

Room mothers must have their criminal record clear in order to acces and volunteer at our center.  If you would like to volunteer for class activities, please contact our Director to check on more requirements.

Sunshine Parent Events

Research suggests that family involvement in education can boost young children's academic success (e.g., Henderson & Berla, 1994; Izzo, Weissbert, Kasprow & Fendrich, 1999; Marcon, 1999; Powell, 1989).

At Sunshine Academy we have different events during the year where parents are invited to come and participate.

Sunshine Special Guest

Be our special guest!  Visit your children's classroom to share something special about yourself, such as your occupation, your cultural background or an interesting hobby.  Your child will be proud to let everyone know you’re his/her parent!
