Curriculum
We want our children to enrich their lives and live in joy learning in our center. Learning takes a whole other level in our center. Our academic and developmental curriculum is made by certified educators based on age-appropriate teaching guidelines, professional theories and teaching strategies to help meet the needs of each child’s learning quest.
We follow guidelines from STEAM, Core Knowledge, DHP, Junior Master Gardener, DAP (Developmentally Appropriate Practices), TX Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines, TX Essential Knowledge Skills Kindergarten, Scholastic and Reading Rockets. Language, phonic, literacy, math, spatial learning, self-discovery, music, gardening, cooking, social studies, daily exercise (Zumba and Yoga) and art are all incorporated into our approach. Other activities we include are field trips, date-night camp every semester and dressing up once a month; we dress as our favorite real hero, professional, travel adventure, etc.

Students receive progress reports every 3 months from August through June. In addition, we offer enrichment programs to enhance learning and summer camp to continue the quest of learning.
School hours: August - May; 7:30 am – 5:30 pm, June and July ; 7:30 am – 5:30 pm and 10:00 - 2:30 pm. There may be early release days or late opening hours during the year. Our regular curriculum starts at 9:00 am – 2:300 pm. At 3:00 pm we start our enrichment program which includes Mandarin, Spanish, piano, gardening, cooking, art and more. Kids from other schools are welcome to join our enrichment program. It is up to you as a parent to choose your child's schedule. You can pick up your child starting at 2:00 pm or you can choose to leave your children at our care learning until late.

Sunshine’s Summer Camp includes a lot of fun and creative activities. Let your kids discover, learn and enjoy their summer with us. Kids from ages 6-Month-old – 12 years old are welcome to join.

Children notice that words are all around — in books, at the supermarket and in their homes. They play with language by creating silly rhymes and nonsense words. While this is usually fun, it is also a very important step in learning to read.
Children learn that letters and sounds go together to form words and how to identify alphabet letters and their sounds.
In Sunshine Academy, children learn about plants, food and animals, and explore the weather and seasons. Teachers use simple science experiments to introduce children to the process of scientific inquiry. Children will learn to make connections between many things.
Counting cubes, number rods and other math materials help kindergartners work with a larger set of numbers. Children begin to use physical materials to solve simple addition and subtraction problems like how many cookies they’ll have left after they’ve shared some with a friend.
Children will learn to expand their world beyond their homes and classrooms to the larger neighborhood or community. They learn more about the rules that help people get along with each other.
